Perry Stapleton has moved his LS1 powered 67
Nova to the Bailey Ranch Butcher Shop, aka, the Mikel
Smith garage. With most of the
mechanical work and the body and paint work finished, Perry has enlisted Mike’s
skillful help to finish the fuel injection wiring, locate and mount the
battery, ECM, main fuse panel, and tie all that together, whilst finish wiring
the car in general, and, oh yeah, install AC system, including the wiring,
plumbing, and also charge and check operation.
Perry may have thought of a few other things that won’t take very long!
David Davis’ LS engine swap into his 64 Chevy
11 is mostly complete. The engine will
fire and run inside its new sheet metal.
David said that he and Tony (Tony’s Pipe and
Muffler) have designed and fabricated a few adapters that allowed David to
retain the exhaust system which was already under the Nova. David said one of the biggest aggravations
was the installation of a one-off hydraulic clutch system, and he can now
remove and replace the clutch in record time!
Don Hughes’ 39 Chevy now has all the body and
fenders painted and buffed, and a team has been installing fenders and assorted
body parts. Paint looks really
good! Don is still waiting on the
weather to allow him to concrete the driveway leading to his new 40x28 garage.
We also heard KARC member Doug Phillips had
to remove 25 trees to make way for his new shop. So how big is that going to be?
Harry Soard is also
threatening to build a garage. It is an
epidemic of garage building! And that’s
a good thing for all us old Pharts!
While he is not doing anything, Mike Smith has
a new Holley Sniper fuel injection system to install on his Suburban.
Of course, with a new garage, you’ve got to
think about that lift you’ve dreamed of all your hot rod life. We understand in the last few months, David
Baker has installed both a 4 post and a 2 post lift. Don Hughes and Jimmy Edwards liked the looks
of the 4 post lift and have theirs ordered, and David Davis has a new 2 post,
which he reported was invaluable during his LS engine installation.
