Fort Henry Mall SuperCruise and Wilderness Trail Rod Run

KARC would like to thank Fort Henry Mall for hosting the Friday night SuperCruise. All donations for the SuperCruise are donated to Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to all that participated and donated.

Saturday’s Wilderness Trail Rod Run in downtown Kingsport was a success. Though it was a hot day, it was beautiful. Thanks to all the sponsors who made this event happen. Special thanks to major sponsor Randall Gibson and Rainbow Motors for providing giveaway bicycles an all you do for KARC.

Here are some of the bicycle winners and fun at games.

Rayford and Jan Dingus Gathering

Rayford and Jan, again, hosted KARC members and friends Thursday evening before our Friday night SuperCruise and the Saturday Wilderness Trial Rod Run. The food was delicious, as usual. Thanks to Jan and all that brought a covered dish. It was a good time swapping tall tales, especially about the ones that weren’t there. Dad (Phil) and I (Gary) had a good time pickin’ a few songs with Mike and Junior.

Member Machines and Gossip

Thanks to Dick Cartwright for the input.

The Gray swap meet featured a wide selection of swap meet type treasures (junk). The promoter was pleased with the number and variety of vendors, and the steady stream of buyers. Based on PBC (Phipps Ball Cartwright) demographics there was a strong demand for license tags, little interest in vintage toys radios or clocks. Charlie Ball scored a 5-speed transmission for his F-1 project there.

Johnny McClellan is now the proud owner of an ‘06 Mustang, State Line Collision is taking care of cosmetics before he debuts the car.

Sid Vicars is finally back in his home and garage after the February flood.

Randy Bledsoe has pinned the mistletoe to the tail of his shirt, and retired, Randy's gain Scott County's loss. Randy's Mustang's failure on the way back from Winnsboro turned out to be a worn-out distributor. Sam Edenfield arranged repairs. Jim and Steve Barker provided transportation back to Gate City. This is what our hobby is all about...…friends helping friends.

The Celebration Church show was a success despite threatening weather, and our club was well represented. We were treated to the usual hospitality and excellent food, thanks Celebration Church. Two KARC members were conspicuously absent, it seems Maynard Ketron was following Bill Hurd and they ended up in Boone North Carolina.

Gary Whittington enlisted the help of Mike Smith to install Vintage Air, a Borgeson Power Steering Kit on his ’69 Mustang and to find an electrical gremlin that had everyone stumped. Gary reports all is working well. In addition to finding a short in the gauge’s circuit board, Mike discovered there are two different temperature senders on old Mustangs, one for gauges and one for cars that only have a temperature light. Gary also is getting closer to having his ’65 Mustang on the road.
