Meeting Location Change?

Dick mentions, below in the gossip section, the inability, at this time, for Golden Corral to accommodate more than 30 members for a meeting. Since we don’t know what the future holds in store, regarding the pandemic, if a member has a suggestion on what venues might be available, please let those be known. Obviously, until Covid-19 is under control and it is safe to have larger gatherings, we likely have some time to look at venues and try to plan for a new meeting location if Golden Corral’s seating limitation is an issue going forward.

Member Machines and Gossip

Several members have been gathering at Freddy’s, on Fridays, and attending other small shows used as fundraisers and Elizabethton. A few members attended the Pigeon Forge Run, although it had been “officially” cancelled. I’ve heard Perry Stapleton and Mike Smith made the trek to Des Moines, Iowa for the Goodguys meet, over 4th of July weekend.

(Thanks to Dick for the following)

It was great to see Bruce Roberts' Chrysler wagon back on the road, both engine and transmission problems seem to have been solved.

Now that Charlie Ball has solved his primary engine problem his Holley leaker has started having issues. The car seems to be OK , at present, thanks to Norman Davis' expertise. If said carb causes any problems in the future Charlie is threatening to (gasp) cut back on buying tags and replace it with a Sniper.

New shocks have helped a tire clearance problem on Kathy Vicars' Chevy II. Sid is now trying to find the cause of a weak #6 cylinder. The cylinder has good compression and no vacuum leaks have been found.

My (Dick's) 77 Nova project is coming along, thanks to Charlie Ball's help. It no longer has leaky tires (2 new tires) has brakes (new master cylinder) and is getting fuel to the engine (new fuel hose). It still idles rough, has a parasite load on the battery, needs a really, good bath and a new home.

I checked with Golden Corral about what facilities are available for our meetings. It would be a maximum of 30 people "out in the restaurant".

Editor’s note: Dick, once again, invited members over for an informal, non-official club gathering. I’ve been in Florida for a week and a half and didn’t get the newsletter out before I left. I apologize to anyone who didn’t go to Dick’s because of not knowing about it.
